Call Recording Systems

A Must have tool for modern business

Call recording provides the means to listen to calls after they have occured. The call recording system automatically records these telephone calls and stores them for later retrieval.

Choosing a call recording system that is suitable for your type of business requires quite a bit of research into the types of call recording systems available in the marketplace. So what are the key features to look for in a call recording system?

How does the call recording system work

Let's begin by looking at the component parts of the call recording system

Diagram of the KSS call recording system, How call recording works

1. The call recording unit: this does the actual job of recording the calls and storing the calls onto the call recording server. The call recording unit plugs directly into your digital or analogue telephone lines.

2. The PBX or telephone switch is responsible for routing the calls to the appropriate extension(s). The PBX sends out call logs as SMDR data about each call to the call recording server.

3. The call recording server: This is the heart of the call recording system and it collates both the call recordings and the call logs. The call logs contain information about the extensions handling each call and this data is matched by the call recorder server to the recorded calls.

4. The call recording client software: KSS Call recorder is the software that you see on your PC. KSS Call Recorder is a powerful software application which displays call logs and statistics** about the calls being recorded. The calls recordings are played back directly from the calls list shown on the main screen of the application.

Line Side recording
The recording unit is connected directly to the incoming Digital ISDN or Analogue lines and is capable of recording all call activity. The recording system is always on and is continuously monitoring all calls passing in and out of your business.

Accurate Call Matching
Calls are routed via a PBX system which directs call to and from appropriate extensions. The call recorder does not pick up any information regarding the extension which answered or made the call. To monitor this and match the extension activity to the correct call recording the KSS call recorder incorporates advanced call matching software. Call matching software relates the information from the call recorder such as call time and date, duration and callers number to the extension side information gathered from the PBX system.

Easy retrieval of recorded calls
Because the call recording server and the KSS call recorder software are fully integrated playing back calls is quick and easy. Simply locate your call from the call recorder calls log and select the call recording icon (which is a speaker icon). The call will then automatically playback using the multi function call player.
